How far in advance do I need to order a custom cake?
Custom cakes require at least 48 hours’ notice. For tiered cakes, wedding cakes, large sculpted designs, or busy weekends and holidays, order as far ahead as you can — popular dates fill up. If you need something sooner, call the bakery at 718-853-8021 and we will tell you honestly what is possible.
Are you really open 24 hours?
Yes. La Gran Vía Bakery is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including holidays. Ready-made cakes, fresh Cuban bread, pastries and coffee are available at any hour. Custom cake orders still need their 48 hours of lead time.
What sizes do your cakes come in, and how many people do they serve?
Round cakes run from 7 inches up to 14 inches, serving roughly 6–8 people at the small end and 30–40 at the large end. Tiered cakes serve more — we stack two and three tiers for weddings and quinceañeras. Each cake page lists the exact sizes available for that design.
What cake flavors and fillings can I choose?
Cake types include home-style, chocolate, Dominican, Mexican, red velvet, black and white, carrot and coconut. Fillings include guava, pineapple, vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, cherry, buttercream and dulce de leche. Mix and match — guava with home-style cake is the classic Cuban combination.
How much does a custom cake cost?
Price depends on size first, then on whether you pick a premium cake type or filling, the height, and how many tiers. Can you put a photo on the cake?
Yes — we print edible photo images. Browse our photo cakes and send us the picture you want used. Clear, high-resolution photos reproduce best.
Can you make a cake from a picture I found online?
Usually, yes. Bring or send the picture and we will tell you what we can do and what it will cost. That is the whole idea behind our motto — if you can think it, we can make it. Our 3D sculpted cakes show how far we can take a design.
Do you deliver, or is it pickup only?
Cake orders are scheduled for pickup at the bakery, 4516 5th Ave in Sunset Park. For large orders, catering and standing wholesale accounts we can arrange local delivery — ask us when you place the order.
Do you cater parties and events?
Yes. We cater birthdays, baptisms, quinceañeras, office parties and family gatherings across Brooklyn with pastelito trays, croquetas, sandwiches and celebration cakes. See our catering & events page.
